Welcome to GeoPhysX (GPX) a Modern POSIX Operating System for geophysicists

GPX is a Linux release for geophysicists and geoscientists based on Scientific Linux (SL). A large amount of packages have been added to the original flavor (SL).

The main idea is to provide out of the box an operating system useful for Seismology, GIS, Planetary Sciences, Atmospheric Sciences and others earth sciences disciplines.

This will be a workstation class, user-friendly, reliable, 64bits computing oriented and efficient system.

  • Computing: GCC, Python, Octave, SciLab, GDL, Maxima, MPI, OpenMP, fttw3, CUDA SDK
  • Visualization: VTK, OpenGL, Paraview, GNUplot, Blender, POV-RAY
  • GIS GRASS, QGIS, R, GDAL Framework, GMT
  • Seismology: stack, SeismicUnix
  • Remote-Sensing: ImageJ, USGS ISIS, NASA Ames StereoPipeline, ROI-PAC, Mirone
Requiered packages and libraries for Matlab, Mathematica and IDL will be also present for scientists who are using these applications.
